Falls Park Greenville SC | Jasmin Bridal | Bridal Portraits

By now you know Jasmin. If not here are some of the other posts we have done about her and Kayson: Engagement Session, Uplighting, Wedding Photos. We had a lovely time with Jasmin and some of her family members that came along to spend special time with her. We photographed her bridal portrait session at Falls Park in Greenville SC. Here are some of her portraits from that day. Family Portraits | Harris Family Portraits | Greenville SC

I enjoy photographing families. It is fun to be a part of their dynamics and how they let you in on part of their lives. We recently were honored that Beth Harris with Marroitt on the Greens allowed us to photograph her family and their adorable brand new addition. Take a look at just a few pictures from their amazing day. Furman University | Family Photo Session | Coleman

We actually started taking the Coleman's family photos about 3 years ago. They tried to get them done at another place and after waiting 2.5 hours left and called us and we have been photographing them ever since. I love their family and enjoy seeing the kids growing up. I always work around their schedule and pick a location that the kids can play and get energy out so that it's more like "fun" photo time rather than "be still" photo time. Take a look at some of the fun we had with them at Furman University.

Keith + Greta Wedding

We had so much fun working with Keith + Greta. From the first time we met them, we just seemed to click. I think we looked forward to their wedding almost as much as they did. They are a very creative couple and it showed through their whole wedding. We wanted to make sure to capture all the little details that they had worked so hard to make. From the bridesmaid's necklaces to the reception center pieces. And to tie everything together they chose the beautiful Claxton Farm in the North Carolina mountains for their special day. Not only are Keith + Greta a great couple, they're the perfect team. We wish you two all the best. Enjoy some of these images from the wedding day. Also check out their engagement photos here

What to wear?!!!!!

OK! So get asked a lot "What should I wear on my engagement shoot.?" I started working on a blog but there are so many great articles out there that explain it better than I can. So here is one I found that I like that I thought you may enjoy from Eric Kelly. His post is below.

Photography – What to Wear:

Engagement photos might be one of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer (besides the actual wedding, of course). It’s an opportunity for me to get to spend some time with you and your fiance, capturing some great images of just the two of you in normal, day-to-day garb. It also helps you get comfortable in front of the camera so you feel relaxed to show off your personality and relationship.

I frequently get asked “what should I wear for our engagement session?” – so Lora and I came up with a few suggestions: (if you have more to add, please leave a comment and we’ll add them to the list!)

Be you!

  • You and your fiance(e) are the subject matter, so you want to wear something that reflects who you are and what you love.
  • If you love pink, it’s your trademark color – wear that.
  • One of our friends is from Texas, and she said she loves cowboy boots and would wear them.
  • Lora loves Toms Shoes. Those are fun details that make the pictures about you.

Dress on the same scale.

  • If he’s wearing a tux, a bohemian dress with torn off sleeves might not be the best option.
  • If you are an upscale fashionista, help your love find an outfit that matches your level of dressiness.
  • Outfit changes are always welcome – so maybe have one outfit that’s pretty casual and fun, and one that’s a touch more dressy and nice.

Comfort is key.

  • Leave those “I have to lay down to button these jeans” at home and opt for something that you feel free to move around in.
  • Lora says to avoid too tight-fitting clothes that might accentuate curves you’re not best friends with.
  • Jersey material, while comfortable, is a cruel creator of undesirable curve showing, especially when pregnant (for maternity what to wear).
  • Think about the time of year and location – ie, if it’s freezing outside – shorts and a tank top might not be ideal.
  • If you have some super-awesome heels you want to wear, but you’ll be walking in sand…. try bringing flip-flops and just wearing the shoes for the actual shot.

Color is beautiful.

  • I love rich colors, and dark colors are always slimming.
  • Something with a little pop always photographs well, but if you’re most “in-love with” shirt is white or off white – don’t be afraid to wear it.
  • It’s about you!

Complement Each Other.

  • Yes, compliment, too – but really, wear clothes that are complementary.
  • If you both want to wear red, or orange, or green, try wearing varying hues or shades.
  • Avoid the “we have to match!” mentality, unless you’re just married to the same outfit. In which case – embrace and smile!

Splurge for Sass. (I’ll turn this one over to Lora).

  • There’s nothing quite like a brand new dress to bring out the fun for a photograph. I love the idea of having a “never been seen” outfit just for those special pictures.
  • And, if you’re all dolled up… it’s a perfect excuse for a post-session date night.

Emote.

  • Yes, like smile and laugh and flirt. You’re getting married! It’s joyous.
  • Show your colors. My job is to capture you both totally in love and totally excited for the big day.

I hope that helped you guys out some and if you have anything to add leave a comment and I'll add it to the blog.

Alyssa & Joe | Wedding

This was a couple that we met last year at the June wedding trade show. The very trade show that was a complete black out due to a freak storm. We continued meeting & greeting people by the light of our flashlights, and when all was said and done made some great connections. When Alyssa called to book us for her wedding for both Photo & Video, she said that we stood out amongst the darkness. Quite the compliment! We thoroughly enjoyed working with Alyssa & Joe over the past few months, during their engagement, and bridal shoots. And captured some Amazing shots! Their wedding day was beautiful at St. Anthony's downtown Greenville, Joe was all smiles at his stunning bride, they along with their fun-loving bridal party were a blast to work with. The Poinsett downtown was the perfect setting for their elegant reception. We are so Thankful for the opportunity to have worked with them, and be a part of this exciting time in their life. Their family & friends were so welcoming, and we really enjoyed the day with them!
Here are some of the moments we captured of this Great couple! Best of Wishes Alyssa & Joe as you begin your lives together!
